It was a productive (and exhausting) week at the IEC 61850 working group meetings in June/2016. Progress is being made on a number of parts of the standard, including the core parts (parts 6, 7 and 8), as well as the guideline documents (part 90). The SCL functional modelling, logic modelling, and functional acceptance testing task forces have made significant progress, as have others.
From the Canadian National Committee’s perspective, we were very excited to have the opportunity to endorse the work completed by SCE with their standardized HMI, and explain why this concept should be considered as part of IEC 61850. The users are the primary beneficiary of this initiative, so if you’re interested, please contact us and we’ll advise how you can support this international proposal. Will keep you posted on future developments.
A special thank you to ENEL (Italian Utility) for hosting our meetings. It was a complete success! Having hosted the meetings the same time last year in Saskatchewan, Canada, I realize the amount of effort to organize this event.
Very fortunate to work alongside these technical experts! These are some of the brightest minds in the industry, but we need more! If you’re interested in participating please contact us at dtessier@tesco-group.com.
As a value-added service, we develop a technical debrief that summarizes the key discussions/decisions made at the working group meetings, and you’re interested in receiving a copy please contact us at dtessier@tesco-group.com.
